I just walked through the door from Kathmandu. I have so much to post about!!! 1) Yesterday was my mom's and my oldest daughter Nisha's birthday!  2) Today is Valentine's day. 3) Cousin Julia is back home safe in Seattle and we had a nice little weekend together although it was sad saying goodbye.  We took a million pictures that I want to post. N and T and Big N came too and we had so much fun.  We spent the weekend seeing all the sites of Kathmandu.  I feel like I could be a tour guide by now.  As much as I tend to dread my trips to the capital city (because they're usually filled with running from one office or ministry to another.  Or franticallly shopping for things to bring back to Surkhet or waiting around in hospitals) there really are some cool spots to visit and good food too, especially when you've been eating rice and beans for months on end.  I should really write up a traveller's guide.

Here's a quick wrap up of our weekend.

Saturday morning we woke up early and walked up to the monkey temple. Monkeys monkeys everywhere. Between the monkeys and dogs and pigeons flying everywhere Namraj was in for so many surprises. Every thing is just so much more exciting when you have a two year old in tow. "Mommy look at the bus!" "Mommy, monkey!" "Mommy, look bird!" He is talking up a storm and was thrilled to be in animal heaven. In the afternoon we went to the Kathmandu zoo. The most fun we had was playing on a real legit PLAYGROUND with swings and slides and a see-saw.  Then, Julia insisted that we went on an elephant ride around the zoo grounds. I felt like we were sitting and riding on a sloth and commented on how slow we were moving when the guide told us our elephant was 74!  The poor thing should definitely be retired by now. Elephants are lucky charms in Nepal and everyone kept coming up to her and taking dirt from under her feet as a souveneir and rubbing her nose and giving her money. I think it must have been lucky to ride her too.

We also went to the national stadium, and Durbar square, and Sundara tower.  Check out our pictures!

I'll have more in another post!  As you can see N and I are both tired from all the travel.

To my mommy, I loveeee you.  Happy Birthday.  Thanks for being such a good mama to me.  Wish I could be there with you for a night. 8,000 miles is really too much sometimes.

LASTLY in honor of Valentine's Day and my cousin Julia who just departed!  A little love song that we've all been singing non-stop around here.

Julia insisted that we try to teach this to the kids.  We have a tradition where all of our volunteers teach the kids a song to remember them by.  Most people teach something like 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed, or The Itsy Bitsy Spider but Julia decided to go with a little Colbie Caillat.  Julia and I always yell the part that goes "Cause you're so damn beautiful!!!"  TRY IT!

Julia, "We go together like Peanuts and Payday, Marley and Reggae!!!" I finally got that line down.

Happy VALENTINE'S DAY!!  Wishing you love love love <3
