Celebrating International Women’s Day

A group of women sit in a circle in a colorful classroom.

This Women's Day, join us in supporting 20 strong and powerful women in Surkhet, as they embark on a journey to leave behind a life of marginalization: a 45-day Montessori Teacher's Training program designed to empower them to become leaders in early childhood education.

Just like you, at Kopila Valley Women’s Center, we believe that investing in women and girls creates healthier families, more prosperous communities, and more peaceful nations.

Thanks to you, our women have made great strides. However, many in Surkhet still struggle with unsafe living environments, lack of access to education, and little economic opportunity. Our Women's Center trainees report:

94% have experienced domestic or gender-based violence
97% report little to no knowledge of their legal rights prior to joining our program
32% have had no access to schooling
51% were married before the age of 18

However, behind each of these numbers is a vulnerable, yet powerful woman determined to change her life. And it all starts with your support.

Women work together in a classroom.

Our approach goes beyond traditional teaching methods. Their training and experience includes:

  • Individual psychosocial counseling
  • Motivational methods
  • Psycho-education tailored to the unique needs of the trainees
  • Women empowerment sessions

These sessions are designed to foster professional growth and personal development, ensuring our educators are well-rounded, resilient, and ready to inspire the next generation of change makers!

How Can You Help?
