Where Children Don’t Go Hungry

This child hadn’t had a meal in three days when he came to our office asking for food. He was hungry. He was too scared of the security guard and kept hiding behind a bus in the parking lot no matter how much we tried to convince him he could come in. Cal got the security guard and had him convince the kid it was okay to come in and eventually, he did. He filled up with a heaping plate of rice and I sat and ate across from him and discussed getting him into school.
Here he is again after completing his first week of school. He has lots of catching up to do, but so far is thriving and his eyes absolutely sparkle. He reminded me that no one is a lost cause.
Knowing we can act fast in cases like these is so, so important. Thank you for providing us with support so we can be there when it matters. It mattered for this little boy. It matters every day here. All of our supporters were there for this child. There's a future where children don't go hungry, not here, not anywhere.
