The Kalikot List

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

THE FAMILY is BACK!!!  Tonight in satsung, we went around in a circle and talked about the kids' favorite memories from Kalikot.  The list looked something like this:

✔ Swimming in the river every day

✔ Catching fish

✔ Learning to harvest buck wheat

✔ Eating lemons, and walnuts and cucumbers and corn and potatoes and sugar cane.

✔ The climbing and collecting of the walnuts in the trees

✔ Visiting friends and relatives

✔ Climbing to the top of a mountain

✔ Learning to live and work like a real villager (carrying water and cutting grass for the cows)

✔ Playing and making new friends

✔ Sitting together and talking by the fire

✔ The long bumpy rickety bus ride (That was A being sarcastic)

The gang was most excited to sit down and watch some good old television this afternoon.  They've been completely removed from all things electrical for two whole weeks.  They were also filled with lice and have black chapped cheeks and lots of bug bites like you've never seen.  Today was a day of resting, washing clothes, taking baths, and ME buzz buzz buzzing hair and lice AWAY!  Thanks to King James for lending us his clippers.  And thanks to our bus driver for getting our family up and down the mountains safely.  And thanks to our sweet team of staff and volunteers who took the kids on the journey and adventure of a life time.  And thanks to all the sweet villagers for welcoming and being so kind to my children.

I am just so happy to have everyone back under one roof.
