A Letter to My Kopilas

Wednesday, December 31, 2014

Dear children of mine,
Gosh I’m the proudest mom.  You are growing like bean stalks and blooming every day! You are amazing.  You are my joy.  I love you more than the universe.  Each of you is a patch in a big beautiful quilt that makes our family so perfectly woven together.  There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t wake up and think about how lucky we’ve been to have found each other.  You make my days so full and so happy and so worth living.   I’m always teasing myself for having so many kids and such a big family, but how could I have stopped? How could I have stopped when each of you are so loving, so funny, so caring, and so special?

We wouldn’t be complete without you Pabitra, or you Santosh, or you big Madan, and Manisha!

Numbers 1 to 51

You are my heart. My sunshine.  The love in our family just keeps multiplying.   I know I have my moments where I get upset, overwhelmed, and stressed.  We made it through a lot this year.  A flood.  A new baby.  Lots of kids who needed us and came into our home.  There are times when I yell and let out big huffs and puffs, but please never doubt my love for you always, always and forever.

When I think about this year, I think about watching you in your classrooms, on stage, on the soccer field, reading quietly on the roof, dancing your hearts out, praying at satsung, snuggled together under the covers watching a movie, lined up by the front gate in your ties and spiffy uniforms, cooking and baking in the kitchen, off on adventures, (hiking, swimming and bird watching) flying kites on the roof, playing capture the flag, having water balloon fights, having REAL fights;) I’m always telling you to stop growing, but watching you learn and grow each and every day has made my life so full and so rich.  It’s made me grow.   If I could put all my love in the bank, I think I’d be the richest woman on earth.

Thank you for being my children.  Thank you for being my family and for taking care of each other.  I can’t wait for 2015.  May it bring more peace, joy and love to us and all of our friends and family around the world.  Happy New Year my little Kopilas!!!

I love you,
Maggie Mom
