I loved the book, Animal Vegetable Miracle (by Barbara Kingsolver) so much that straight after I read it I marched out into the side yard and planted ALL of this (above) with the kids.

It's a never-ending cycle and to bathe, clean the ears, check the lice, wash the clothes, and cut the fingernails of 35 (very dirty) children takes a lot of shampoo, soap, and patience.

Well, all of the kids pretty much said the same thing; they were thankful for our school, the teachers and I, learning, books parents and family members that work to give us the opportunity to go to school.

Boys... they turn 12 or 13 and we expect them to be grown up and "tough." We tell them that they're "a man" now and not to cry or feel or show emotion. All that pressure must be hard, no?
