Menstrual Hygiene Day
Monday, May 28, 2018
This morning, our Girls' Club performed an amazing skit in front of the whole school challenging the stereotypes of menstruation in Nepal. For instance, the practice of chhaupadi is still common in some areas -- girls are forced to sleep in their families' cowshed when they get their periods each month. Our boys listened attentively!
Later on, the ladies of our Women's Center joined all of the pre-teens and teens at Kopila Valley School and gave handmade menstrual kits to them all and even taught them how to make their own! Such an inspiring day of girls and women coming together for education to change the world around them.
