One of the remarkable things about our new campus is the ingenious way it will reduce waste. For example, take a look at these two tanks. One will harvest grey water (sink and shower water) and another will collect black water (bathroom waste). Rainwater will also be collected (the tale of three tanks doesn’t sound as catchy...) in a HUGE tank, where it will then be treated and used for drinking, cooking, and washing hands.

We cut the ribbon for the middle school portion of the new campus this week and there are now 100 students using 6 classrooms of our new school!! The road to get here was long and at times it was hard to see an end in sight and actually picture kids using the new school but when the ribbon was cut and the kids went running up the stairs it felt incredible.

I burst into tears when I walked into the new campus on our first day here. I was instantly filled with so much emotion. It’s all coming together so beautifully and I walked onto the site to see at least 80 workers doing their thing hustling around the site in vests and hard hats.

There's a whole lot of behind the scenes work that goes into bringing our new school campus to life. We have an amazing team of aunties and uncles who work tirelessly on the sustainable farm at our new school. We want to introduce you to some of them!

So many of you generous souls have been reaching out these past few months asking me what I envision for the next 10 years. What do we need in Surkhet? How can we all help? We are deep in construction of our new campus and there is no shortage of need and projects for the kids and at the Women’s Center, but I am so excited to share that a gorgeous piece of new land came up for sale!
