Happy birthday little love, I met you when you were in your mama's tummy and your parents moved back from India after the war to work with us. I'm so happy and so lucky they made that decision because your family is part of our core.

Dear S, This is exactly how I always want to remember you- swimming, dancing and doing cartwheels on the river beach. My first ever memory is of you dancing. Everyone in town knew you as being a performer and everyone recognizes you for that to this day.

Dear S, I love watching you do absolutely everything you put your mind to -- fiercely taking on the goals and dreams you set for yourself. There is nothing you can't do. There is nothing that makes my day more than your smile in the morning and your laugh and your funny one liners that drop out of nowhere. You went from being one of the little kids in this house to a strong, competent young woman.

Dear H, I'll never forget the first few weeks you came to live with us. There's a line in my favorite children's book, I'll Love You Forever, that says "sometimes his mother wanted to sell him to the zoo!" That was me. I wanted to sell you to the zoo. Everyone around me thought I was crazy for taking in yet another kid, at a time when everything in our family was so calm. I started questioning myself. You were my wild child. You got in trouble a lot.
