San Francisco

I spent the past few days out in San Francisco. I headed over to LeapNow’s headquarters, at Makama Retreat Center up in Calistoga. It was so amazing to finally get a chance to see the place that has made such an incredible impact on my life and to meet the people behind it all. I was fortunate enough to be there the same week as a Leap Group who had just returned from their year abroad, having literally just gotten off the plane, from their internships in Guatemala, Kenya, Argentina, Israel, Bolivia, New Zealand, you name it. Everyone at the center felt so awake and so alive. I especially enjoyed the time I spent with Sam and Cassie Bull, founders and directors of LeapNow as well as the rest of the staff who are now looking to form a second-year program for Leap students, Deeper Waters. After my time in Makama, I headed directly over to my friend’s apartment at Berkeley and spent some time on a bit of a more traditional college campus. The contrast was pretty interesting, having just come from the small cozy atmosphere of Makama, but none the less, I enjoyed spending time with my friend from home and touring the campus. On Sunday I spent the day at Baker Beach, pictured above, and hiked the coast up to Golden Gate Park area. San Francisco is BEAUTIFUL! I feel so refreshed.
