Our gorgeous blooming garden sits beside our house.
I loved the book, Animal Vegetable Miracle (by Barbara Kingsolver) so much that straight after I read it I marched out into the side yard and planted ALL of this (above) with the kids. It was our big project while they were all off from school in October. There are carrots, radishes, onions, beet root, broccoli and lettuce lettuce lettuce. The past two days all the kids at school have had salad with their lunch which makes me really proud.
This book is awesome if you’re trying to raise your kids with a good food consciousness. Even though our garden was a lot of work for all of us, carrying compost, and removing tons of stones, planting, transplanting and watering, we are really reaping the benefits this month.
