Een gezond gebit in een gezond lichaam
Voor veel scholieren van de Kopila Valley School is het niet vanzelfsprekend hun tanden te poetsen voordat zij naar school gaan. Een groot aantal kinderen komt dan ook binnen met nare tandheelkundige problemen, zoals pijn door gaatjes, ontstoken tandvlees of missende tanden en kiezen. Hetgeen als vanzelfsprekend ook van invloed is op de algemene gezondheid. Ouders kunnen zich tandenborstels en tandpasta voor het hele gezin simpelweg niet veroorloven.

Healthy teeth in a healthy body
For many students at Kopila Valley, brushing their teeth was not a daily habit before they were admitted to school. A large number of children show up to class with severe dental problems, including pain because of cavities, inflamed gums, or missing teeth, which unfortunately also affects their general health. Many of the students' guardians often can't afford toothbrushes and toothpaste for the whole family. Fortunately, dental hygiene is one of our favorite subjects at Kopila!

An Update on Baby Aruna
We had the sweetest visitor at Kopila this week! Do you remember baby Aruna? Back in 2015, all of you took action to save this little girl's life as she suffered from a kidney disease. You kept her in your thoughts, spread the word, donated money, recommended doctors in Kathmandu, and brought warm meals to Aruna and her mother in the hospital.

Too Young for Surgery
A local pediatrician was talking about a case with me the other day about a three day old child who is suffering from a birth defect. This baby girl was born on February 26, 2017 in a remote village of Surkhet. Her father is 20 and mother is 18.
