3 things...

First, thank you all for the beautiful heartfelt comments and support you left here and on our facebook page.  You’ll all be happy to know that brave little girl will be coming to Kopila Valley early next week to see what we can do to assist her with her education and rehabilitation.  Your support makes this possible.

The Kopila kids are still sick over here. I’m praying things are winding down but as you can imagine I'm a little spent and on edge. There is a pretty serious viral fever going around that's claimed quite a few lives in the district north of us. 34 of my kids have had it and attendance is down at school as well.  I met with our local doctor last night and he assures me not to get overly concerned and to keep up with the cool clothes and paracetamol when the fevers get too high.  I absolutely can’t wait for these kiddos to be 100% better.  Sabita woke up better this morning... thank goodness.

Last, I wrote an Op Ed piece for Take Part Media about the unexpected challenges and rewards of building a school in Nepal that I want to share with you. Check it out here!  People are always emailing, asking for advice about starting their own projects and wondering what some of the unexpected challenges were.  It took 6 months to simply register our school and I remember when we finally had the paperwork in our hands looking at Tope totally exhausted and being like, “okay and now we have to build it!”  I want to write a longer guide some day about the problems we face and the solutions we continue to come up with... but this short piece is a start!  I actually had to cut this essay from 5,000 words down to 1,000.  There was so much I wanted to share.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

So much love from Kopila Valley,

Maggie

Hi Maggie, Really good article. I am so happy to hear the good news about the young girl. You are an angel.
My brother posted a comment on his facebook page a while back that said he knew that God has a plan for his life but he is just to lazy to do it. I am so glad that you will "DO IT"
...Glad to know you and love ya girl!

So good to hear! Hang in there - Viruses are so horrendous - the attack the people who are not as good as battling them off - the young, the aged. Even with my (only) 2, when they were kids, viruses would bring me to tears. Much love from Seattle.

And Maggie, GREAT essay - your 1000 words came through so honest and informative, and loving. You're a great writer - I would have liked to see the original, though. What did you leave on the cutting-room floor?

Maggie, is it not possible for a temporary voluntary nurse to be parachuted into Surkhet to help you out during this crisis?

That's great news to hear that she'll be coming to the school! The Op Ed will help give a taste of the overall story, but I'm sure in time you'll write it out as long as you see fit. I can imagine that you are spent, but I'm sure that exhaustion will inevitably be transmuted into passion; stay patient.

Thank you for sharing.

Maggie - just INCREDIBLE how you will save another little girl's life! Sounds like this girl is a fighter too! Truly divine intervention....
