School lunch at Kopila Valley... Care to join us?

Our awesome SCHOOL LUNCH TEAM getting ready to serve up the kids

Rice for one day of school lunch!Look at all that rice, fresh from the mill!  Our wonderful cooks sit like this every day sifting through tomorrow's lunch to be sure that all the little stones, bits of earth (and the occasional bug) are out of it. Then they soak and rinse and repeat. Same goes every day for fresh lentils and vegetables. The kids all help with serving, preparation, the garden, and clean-up. We try to support local farmers and women and grow what we can off our own land. We keep our wasted food, scraps, and compost to a minimum (one small pail.)

School lunch is a big part of what we do everyday at Kopila Valley. Food makes up for almost 50% of our entire budget. We feed every student a nutritious meal for just 25 cents per child per day. Many of our students fill up 3-4 times as it's the only big healthy meal they get each day. Full bellies = successful healthy kids at Kopila Valley!

For those of you who have been asking how you can help!  You could start a collection jar at your school or workplace.  Every quarter you collect feeds one child. 75$ feeds our ENTIRE SCHOOL (300+ kids) lunch for a day.

This is what it looks like every day at noon around Kopila Valley!  Care to join us?
